PUEBLO, Colo. (KKTV) - According to police in Pueblo, an 18-year-old female was taken into custody following a street racing event on Sunday that led to a collision. The accident caused considerable harm to a residence and severe injuries to someone inside the vehicle.

The Pueblo Police Department reported that around 12:20 a.m., officers noticed three cars engaging in a race within the area of 3200 block on Pueblo Boulevard, located on the southwestern part of town. They added that soon afterward, one of these vehicles veered off the roadway and collided with a house situated on Elmwood Circle.

Upon their arrival at the location, law enforcement reported finding two women inside the car, where Jaiden Maes, aged 18, was seated in the driver's position. According to police statements, as they awaited the firefighters' arrival, the vehicle’s engine burst into flames; subsequently, the officers promptly evacuated those within the burning car.

After being extracted from the vehicle, all occupants were taken to the hospital. Authorities mentioned that the passenger suffered multiple severe, though not life-threatening, wounds. The police stated that Maes did not sustain any significant injuries.

Maes was detained and transported to the Pueblo County jail. She now faces accusations including Vehicular Reckless Assault, operating a vehicle without insurance, driving with an invalid license, and showing a number plate that has expired.
