
An incident occurred last week in Waterloo where a 9-year-old boy lost his life after being struck by a vehicle.
The Waterloo police report that 71-year-old Allen Green was traveling down Lafayette Street at approximately 7:20 p.m.
Informants reported to law enforcement that Green veered off the roadway and struck a person walking on the pavement before colliding with a concrete barrier.
The police discovered Green unconscious inside his vehicle, with a 9-year-old named David Chavez lying on his back in the driveway of a house.
Both individuals were transported to the hospital for medical care. Chavez was declared deceased at the hospital soon after being admitted.
The police mentioned that Green appeared disoriented and sustained slight injuries. According to the traffic report, an officer discovered a cane in the front seat of Green’s vehicle and noticed a Life Alert device in his trouser pocket.
