A first-year Pontiac GTO equipped with an LS V8 engine, a six-speed automatic transmission, Wilwood brakes, and a customized interior is now up for grabs at an auction.

The automobile commonly recognized as the one that started it all American muscle car era has returned, now equipped with contemporary power beneath its classic exterior. A 1964 Pontiac GTO , completely restored and equipped with an LS engine, is being offered without reserve as part of The Burnyzz Collection in Florida, merging vintage aesthetics with modern technology.

This reimagined GTO marks a dramatic departure from its original factory configuration. Gone is the 389-cubic-inch V8 that sparked a performance revolution. In its place is a 6.2-liter LS V8 sourced from a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro SS, mated to the donor’s six-speed automatic transmission with overdrive—bringing potent reliability and everyday drivability to this legendary nameplate.

The car leaves a striking visual impression. Its elegant body, painted in a rich burgundy color, pairs perfectly with the timeless design of the GTO’s hardtop roofline. This look is enhanced further by the addition of 18-inch US Mag alloy wheels shod with high-performance Nitto NT555 tires. The vehicle boasts impressive stopping capability thanks to Wilwood four-piston disc brakes across all corners. Additionally, an optimized header setup combined with a dual-exhaust configuration provides a powerful audio accompaniment as you drive.

Inside, the transformation includes an entirely customized brown leather interior, a tailor-made central console, an after-market steering wheel, and AutoMeter instruments incorporated into a contemporary dashboard. Despite this modernization, the cabin maintains a classic ambiance while providing all the features one would anticipate from a high-end restomod vehicle.

The aluminum radiator equipped with dual electric fans manages the cooling process, guaranteeing that the LS engine maintains the ideal temperature, whether you're cruising down the street or impressing everyone at a weekend car show.

The 1964 GTO Originally sparked the muscle car frenzy by bypassing GM’s displacement limits. This restomod carries forward that rebellious ethos—modernizing the rebel for contemporary roads while retaining its essence.

The vehicle is now available on Hagerty Marketplace and is reported to be in pristine condition along with having functional keys. Potential buyers are encouraged to examine the sales tax information carefully, particularly those from Arkansas, Mississippi, and West Virginia. See it here .
