Imama Bokondji’s campaign has concluded prematurely.

The The Pittsburgh Penguins reported on Saturday that Imama had successful surgery to fix a bicep injury at UPMC Mercy Hospital. Recovery is anticipated to take between four to six months.

Imama, who is 28 years old, was in the middle of his fourth NHL season with one goal and 30 penalty minutes across 16 games. Originally from Montreal, he had also played in 24 contests at the AHL level, accumulating five points.

The timing of Imama's injury remains uncertain since he played for 5 minutes and 41 seconds on Tuesday, which was typical of his seasonal performance. However, he did not play in Pittsburgh's game against the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday after that.

Initially selected as a sixth-round pick in 2015, Imama gained experience with the Arizona Coyotes and Ottawa Senators prior to joining the Pittsburgh team. This summer, he will become an unrestricted free agent.
